A special week!

I am in the middle of watching Reverend Pinkneyā€™s Eulogy by President Obama.. Just, wow. I am moved to tears. It’s something awesome. So so special. So glad I got a chance to watch it live. He broke out singing! Amazing Grace.. just awesome.

This whole week was for the record books. First the republican attempt to kill Obamacare and remove many people off the insurance rolls was repudiated by the SCOTUS, Then the Battle flag was essentially voted off the capital grounds (no official vote yet, but it will happen), and then The SCOTUS votes that Gays are allowed to marry, then this Eulogy. Just an amazing week.

The kids are doing well,. Hannah was at art class last night , Rockwell and I attended the Olympic day BMX race, and Melinda is still at SCGSAH in her writing camp. She had to make a public presentation and she said she did well.

I must go out of my way to remember times like these.. Such special times.

Wow.
Love.

Things I have not posted.. The make up post. (Plus Hog Roast)

This weekend, Melinda and her friend Hannah set up a lemonade stand.. They pulled in 12 bucks. Not bad, but they have done better.

So here is a series of pictures from the Hog Roast at Chris and Pegs house this weekend! Wow, what a party. Although, we must be getting old.. there was still Beer in the Keg at the end of the night..
hogroast313

Chris made a haywagon just for the party. It was fun! Part of the path was int he neighbors yard, somwhere I have never gone before.

And the obligatory picture of all the siblings.. I’d say we are looking pretty good for our ages.

And Here is Rockwell playing with a bunch of his cousins (once removed -lol) They had a BLAST. This is one of those events they will all remember.

A Nannyrama for you. Pretty much the whole shebang.

Rockwell messing around with the liver that came with the pig. What a joker.

Rockwell checking out how they attach the pig to the spit.

The kids had a load of fun on this dinosour. It used to have three springs and it was hard to move, even for an adult. Take one of the springs off, and BAM, its a dangerous fun machine. Only small amounts of blood where shed.. No worries.

Rockwell riding Chris’s “irish Mail”. Its hard to figure out at first! Steering with your feet and “pedaling” with your hands! Rockwell mastered it before the weekend was over.

When I dropped off Hannah for the LUA Mincraft summer camp, we passed a guy that really goes all out in decorating the shrubs in his yard. He even got all his neighbors to do it.

And, from 2012 School Year (!) I finally have seen the actual Trophies Hannah won in the math counts competition in the virgin Islands.

And finally.. Hannah and I love eating fat. šŸ™‚ This is a frustrating thing, because society does not, therefore does not supply it. Here is an example.. The first picture is the yogur isle at Wallmart. Look at the huge selection! (It goes down to where Hannah is standing. ) It’s HUGE. Do you think they had any flavored full fat yougurt? Not a single damn one. Not even one! WTF?
lowfatyuck

Here is the most yummy yogurt on the planet, mix this with cereal and you are in heaven. Hard to find. Its the ONLY full fat flavored yogurt we have found. It’s just not right. You are missing out if you dont lick the fat off the tinfoil when you take it off.. I have to assume its like joy people used to have drinking the cream off the top of the milk bottle.

OK< One more pic.. Here are some of our favorite teachers at North Augusta Elem. Making Cotton candy this spring at their fun fair.

Visitors!

We love visitors. Greg, Julia, AnneMarie, and Charlie came by for a couple days on their way back from visiting Charleston. We are really glad they stopped by! We went out for dinner, and went to church together on Easter morning, and Julia and I even got a chance to run 3 miles. (I think Julia will be looking for some hills in the future.)
It was a really good visit. Looking forward to that visit from Steph and Mauro and fam…
šŸ™‚
I also think that Charlie should get some Chickens. Those birds got a lot of attention (and food) from Charlie. It’s almost like (my) Melinda was back in town! Oh, and I think the waffle in charlies hand in the picture got licked by gigi about .5 seconds after this picture was taken!

Pictures from the St Croix trip

Remember, you can click on pictures to make the bigger.

Melinda getting to ride XXX down the mountain. While the picture looksĀ peacefulĀ  the trip was rather exciting.

melmountainhorse13

Melinda learned how to cinch the tack on the horse. She did a good job for only doing it a time or two before.

meltack13

This was where the horses came down to to get fed and brushed. It’s as in the middle of the bush as it looks.

vihorsehideout13

I like this picture at the mountaintop.

vimountain13

Hannah appears to be saying “I’m on a horse!” I’m glad to see the good posture.. On Hannah.. Rockwell just seems to be saying “don’t let me fall off!”

Here is the Tan Tan tour guys.. Rockwell got to go on a 4 wheel adventure up in the mountains. I wish I could have gone! It sounded like it was FUN.

tantan13

The Tan Tan tour was part of one of Rockwell’s friends Birthday parties. Here are the friends from the party playing on the beach.

In this same park was the Mural that Hannah had a hand in last year! As you might know, Hannah was part of a small group of kids (15?) that had theĀ opportunityĀ to work with the CoralĀ ConservationĀ Corps program. They did all sorts of activities that where aimed at learningĀ aboutĀ the coral reefs and their preservation. At the end of the program, they made someĀ reliefĀ sculptures, and the CCC had them mounted on a building in the park! Perhaps Hannah will be able to come back here with her kids and point to this and say, “Hey, I made on of those!”

Here is the whole display. (remember, you can click on the pictures to make them bigger.)

Here is the one that Hannah and another participant made. I think it s great!

Addressing a concern:

My SIL Expressed concern that I was taking the responsability of firearms too lightly. ( I am pretty sure she is not “anti second ammendment”.. She grew up around guns) That I should be clear they are not a toy. I did not mean to make the encounter seem caviler.. It was something that Hannah had expressed interest in for a while. We had practiced with an air rifle at home last summer, and figured she was responsible enough to try shooting a real rifle… You are right, firearms are to be seriously respected. I’ll make sure to clearly reiterate the responsabilities to her next time we get the opprotunity to shoot.

Christmas in St. Croix

We spent Christmas together in St. Croix USVI this year. When I get back I will load pictures.. (slow connection, and.. I cant get my pics off my camera. šŸ™ )

Here is one from Kath’s facebook;

Sorry Kath, you will have to wait for me to get home to see one with you in it.

I have some good ones!

Anyway, looking forward to being back and getting some work done. Not looking forward to being away from the kids. I’m flying out tomorrow morning.

Anyone want to give me a ride from Atlanta?

Kath has an account on this blog now, hopefully I can talk her into posting from here.

Hope everyone had a great holiday. See you soon.

Changes

So, here is some news.
Kathi is going to the virgin Islands! (St Croix)

To work.

Yep. She is going to be a OTA in the St Croix School system for this school year. The kids are are staying here until the Christmas break, then will transfer to the St Croix school system for the rest of the year. If she finds it exceptional, I will follow. If not, she will come back to SC at the end of the school year with some “school experience”.
That is really what this is all about. You cant get in to the school systems without experience, you cant get experience…. yadayada.. catch 22.

I think it will be fun. An adventure for the beginning of 2012. At least it looks like I will be spending Christmas in the Caribbean. That cant be all bad!

Is it cheating?

To post right before midnight, just to make sure I post in this month?
I know why I have had a hard time posting more often lately. Its my camera. Its a pain in the but to work with.
OK, I’m going to post this, now, then modify it with some pictures.
tomorrow.
