Chickens, and and egg holder.

The chickens love bread. They fight over the larger pieces. It’s quite entertaining.

Also, since we get about 2 eggs a day, and don’t always eat that many, I end up having to write the date they were laid on them with a pencil, and put them in a bowl. Then I have to search for the oldest one when I use them. Well, I made something that takes care of that! It’s the “FIFO egg holder”. I know the egg at the bottom is always the oldest one! The round stock is some scrap rod I had, and the U shaped things holding them are old automotive main bearings. I threw a leaf in there just for fun. It will hold up to a dozen eggs.

Quacks & Stacks 5k run

I ran my fastest 5K ever today. 3.1 miles in 25:05 minutes. that is a low 8 minute/mile pace. Actually, my first mile was  7:49.. that was probably my fastest mile ever.  Not bad!  That might be hard (for me) to beat. It was for a local Baptist church. All of the proceeds go to help Schools in Swaziland.

This was the “Duck dash” I guess you picked a duck, and won a prize if it came in first. We were all above on a bridge watching them go.

Here are all the people from Ch12 that participated… Me, Mike (the GSM), Christie, (anchor/reporter), and Shane (Chief Meteorologist.) Mike was there volunteering. He goes to Warren baptist, the church that sponsored the run. Actually, Matt from the weather dept was there volunteering also, be he was not nearby for the picture.

Rockwell chooses an instrument.

Rockwell is going to play the baritone in the school band! That is GREAT! I am really pleased about this choice of his.
And, The baritone has the same fingering as other brass instruments, so he can have his choice down the line if he so chooses.

Melinda’s first 5k race!

Melinda ran her first 5k! She did it in 33min. She had run with me a few times this summer, and she is on the cross country team in school. The last time we ran together, we ran a little over a mile. At the end of the run (the last .25mi) She challenged me to a race to the finish.. And she legitimately won. I was impressed with her speed. As soon as her endurance increases, she will be a contender!
