Consider this fact:

Much of the military’s research on killing and battle stress began after World War II, when studies revealed that only a small number of troops — as few as 15% — fired at their adversaries on the battlefield.

Military studies suggested that troops were unexpectedly reluctant to kill. Military training methods changed, Grossman and others say, to make killing a more automatic behavior.

Bull’s-eye targets used in basic training were replaced with human-shaped objects. Battlefield conditions were reproduced more accurately, Burke says. The goal of these and other modifications was to help soldiers react more automatically.

The changes were effective. In the Vietnam War, 95% of combat troops shot at hostile fighters, according to military studies.

This version of warfare is new. In our lifetimes. Consider the post traumatic stress of those returning from Iraq.

I cant find a single good thing about us going into Iraq.

  • Reduce terror?  No, Iraq made us forget the war on terror in Afghanistan.
  • Democracy for Iraq? No, it was a secular country that we have helped turn into a Islamic one.
  •  Huge debts for our future. The interest alone is sad.

I’m sorry, I had the decimal place in the wrong position. Actually its

1.2 million 100 thousand dollar educations.

It was SOOO worth it, I’m sure.

BTW, while bush has given you that tax break, he still has NEVER Vetoed a single spending bill that has passed his desk.

Who is paying for this?

H, M, W, (and Emma too, T)

H and I visited the rodeo this evening. I forgot my camera! But I didn’t forget my phone, So I guess I’ll use THOSE photos!

It actually was quite fun. A rodeo in the little southern town of ourtown SC. And the place was packed too! I really identify with the people that attend these things on a certain important level, but not on many others. We will return and do it again, it was fun.

H had a lot of fun too. Here she is standing near the “smelly cows”

She also rode a pony. She likes horses. (THAT is too expensive of a hobby!)

K was maintaining her zinnia’s out front (She says “who ever heard of 6 foot tall zinnia’s??) and H must have taken the clippings and assembled her own little display. Anyway, When I saw this, I had to take a picture.

We visited the library again… It has been about a month since our last visit… tsk tsk.

And then, immediately after the library, we went back to the fountain. It was a HOT one yesterday! That fountain felt good!

If your wondering where the pictures are coming from, well, If I push in on the lens just right, I can get it to focus.
