Fun weekend visit to a ranch in Georgia.

A good Friend of ours, Mariya, is taking care of a ranch while the owners are away, and invited us over to check out the animals. It was really fun!

Hannah had a lot of friends, as long as she had some clover in her hands.. lol. Not sure if this is a cow or the bull.

Welcome 2015! (and a little Christmas)

The kids say hello to 2015!

Something I found on the table today.. Rockwell has a little holiday homework he was working on. I thought it was neat that he does his homework in cursive.

Catch-up.

Here are a couple pictures that did not get loaded that probably should have.

Here is my target from my CWP class. Believe it or not, I got the best score in the class. This was half from shooting from the “ready” position (gun against your chest), and half are from the holster with the safety on. all timed, from 3,7,10 meters. The class was 9 hours long, and I was surprised how much interesting Tactical information was covered. It was a worthwhile class.

Busy weekend.. Zombies, Color, MP3, and BMX.

The last 24 hours has been pretty Amazing. It’s going to be hard to beat this run of events. We did a Zombie walk last night with Makeup (Rockwell was feeling sick and did not want to go), we did the color run this morning, We did a “Improve Everywhere” MP3 Experiment this afternoon at 6pm, and then we went to the BMX track and competed there till quarter to nine. Great timing of events.. It was Awesome!

Zombies! We actually found a place down town that would put zombie makeup on for cheap! I should have had more done for what they where charging.. students learning makeup techniques i guess.

We ended the night with some BMX. Melinda and Hannah’s race. This is the race where Hannah, Melinda’s friend, took a pretty nasty spill. Scraped up her hand, her elbow, her side and her knee.. but she STILL finished!! No one can say these girls are not tough!!
melrace14

One of Rockwell’s heats. This was the very first race he used clips on his pedals. In the final heat he took a pretty nasty crash.. I think melinda was wondering it came in three’s at this point!! Everyone was OK in the end.

First day of school 2014-15!

For everyone..
Here is Hannah’s first day at school in switzerland. Here she is meeting the Principal, Herr Schmid and her homeroom teacher, Herr Speigel.
hanfirstday14

Here is Hannah’s first day minus one. The day before she vistied the treeline in the alps with her Uncle and cousins! Her Uncles name is Jeurge, and her Cousins names are Liv and Lars. Remember that, you will be seeing a lot of them for a while.

And here is Rockwell and Melinda.. Not quite as excited about school this year. I’m happy in that they got excellent schedules, Both of them are in all the best classes. Melinda was even included in the Spanish class. If I’m not mistaken, they only had 24 spaces, and they only took the top 24 people in her grade.

Here are their schedules for this year.

Reply to sister Beck.

My sister asked where Hannah will be staying, and what language they speak.

She will be staying at Kathi’s sisters house in Lucerne Switzerland, and be immersed in Swiss-German.

It’s all so exciting.. And, I have to say, Teri and Juerg’s house is in, lets say, a picturesque location? For instance, this is looking (East I believe?) out the Kitchen window. Yes. That is looking over a Vineyard, onto lake Lucerne, with the Swiss Alps beyond that.

I mean.. really? This is a postcard, not a view from a normal persons yard. jeesh. In case you are wondering, they are not independently wealthy.

This is the view to the south I believe?
Breathtaking.

The fete and an Anniversary.

Join me in fete-ing Hannah in her 1st place finish in her High school science fair. She got a 1st place in the Physics category. Way to Go Hannah! You put a good amount of work into this one, what with going out to the lake with the local Amateur radio folks to attempt to launch that second balloon. I won’t mention the “last-minute-finish-the-night-before-the-project-was-due”…

Here it is: Hannah Science Project final 20142

🙂

Also, this is the 10th anniversary of this Blog.

How about that.

The rare snow of 2014.

Since it will probably be another few years till we get any more, I guess I am obligated to post a picture or two. Hannah is not out playing in it, rather she is taking advantage or a no school day, and sleeping in.

And here is a little video of the animals for good measure.

End of Finals week!

<bragging> Hannah received a 99% on her final in honors english. Again, highest grade in the class. but the BEST part is, it took her final grade from a 92% (B) to a 93% (A) ! Now THAT she is happy about ! </bragging>

Last night we went to the Mythbusters tour that came through town last night. It was a lot of fun. The kids got to talk about thier lighting display that we put on the roof of the Bell, And they even made the news that night!

Here is a Nannyramma of the inside of the theater during the show.

Here are the kids manning the “Young Maker”s booth. The kids explained how they built the lighting display that ended up on the roof (awning) of the Bell auditorium.

Goings on.

Hannah is in the middle of finals week. Today is Chemistry and Spanish. She says it’s the hardest day. <bragging> Tuesday was American History.. Hannah received 104 on that one, highest in the class. </bragging>

Tonight is the mythbusters tour in Augusta. We have tickets! We also have worked on a special display on the awning of the Bell auditorium.. The “Young Makers” group, a friend and I have been leading, created it. The kids have been working with a program called “VIXEN“, and the Arduino, to control the lights. This has 32 individual channels. I’d say it worked out wonderfully! Here is the final product:
