We went swimming at Arthur’s pool. A vendor was selling melons by the road on the way, so .. I purchased one! Of course a seed spitting contest is mandatory.

Melinda’s award ceremony at school this week. She received an award for completing the 100 book club, finishing the Accelerated reader yearly goal, and for getting “a”s in math and reading. YAH MELINDA! (Melinda’s is the one up on the stage)

Here is Mom giving Melinda a big hug for her achievements.

Melindas Classroom. (she is in the middle in the back)

We also had a art contest this week. I gave all the kids (including a friend of Hannah’s) some old electronic components, and asked them to make a piece of art in about 15 minutes.

The first contestant.. Rockwell!
Rockwell made “a train and some cargo”.

The second contestant, Amber!
Amber made a three dimensional calder-esqe mobile (I helped with the tripod)

The third contestant, Hannah!
Hannah made a “bookcase with trophy”

The fourth contestant, Melinda!
Melinda made a piece of jewelry.

Melinda had time for two entries.. Notice the lighthouse, the sun, and sponge bob.

I guess I’m saving the best for last. We added someone to our family… Hannah Got her 10th Birthday present one day early! I would like to introduce to you, GiGi! Hannah is VERY happy with her present. 🙂 I hope GiGi is happy with her!

We finally installed our on demand water heater. Its pretty amazing, you take out this monster of a hot-water heater, and replace it with this little thing. We gained a whole closet!

Melinda and Rockwell found two BIG (2.5 inches long, .5 in diameter) green caterpillars in the yard Sunday. Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of them. (grr 🙁 )
This morning, Rockwell comes in from the back porch, and tells his mom “Mom, the caterpillar made a cocoon!”. Kath doubts the veracity of this report, but when she checks, sure enough, BOTH of them made cocoons during the night! We will keep an eye on them and report back what they turn into. (my money is on a moth.. hopefully a large one.
