Crash on the greeneway.

Was riding my bike early. I went under the new underpass at the north end of the Greene way. They had not cleared out all of the sandbags yet and I cought my back wheel on one and was thrown over the handlebars. (I was on the Fixie). Anyway, I dislocated my right hand ring finger.

I tired to straighten it out. No luck. I had to call Larry to come help me.. And even had Larry try and pull it out, but it wouldn’t go back in.

Had to go (have Larry take me) to the Emergency room. I HATE medical facilities because so far they are a complete ripoff. But, alas, I was stuck. (hopefully you are reading this in the future where we have legitimate medical care.. that would be nice, and to no thanks of “conservatives” I am sure.)

Here is the before Xray.

And after a shot of lidocane and a bill that would eventually be almost 3000$, Here is the result. It’s sorta fixed.

No real thanks to the PA.. he was lost.. I don’t think he has ever done this before. Than goodness there were no complications because I am sure they would have missed them. I would have Happily paid a couple hundred for the X-ray, and a shot of lidocane, and done the rest myself.

Not Joking.

Christmas Crash

I got the chance to ride the greeneway with a friend. I guess I was a little excited, because I was not paying the attention I know I should at the treacherous wood bridge.. (that bridge has gotten me twice before while I was running). It was in the morning before the sun burned off the dew, and the bridge was slick.. the front wheel went right out on me, and I was in clipless shoes. I was more mad than hurt though… Mad that I allowed it to happen, and SUPER mad that I was not wearing gloves! That said, I’m 51, and I got up and all that was wrong was I was missing a bunch of skin. I even finished the ride, along with a couple PR times! 🙂
Here is the leg.. but my palm was the worst for it… arrg.

But Hey, I did 14 more miles after the crash, so it must not have been that bad.

BMX slo-mo

A couple of videos I should have posted earlier..

Here is a great one of Rockwell going over the step up..

and here is one of a crash.. Rockwell changed his mind a little late! He was going to jump it.. and then decided to manual it.. Glad he landed on the OTHER side of the hill.. crashing into the front of the hill would have HURT. Notice he is clipped in. That’s how he rides now. He seems comfortable with it.
