Melinda’s first 5k race!

Melinda ran her first 5k! She did it in 33min. She had run with me a few times this summer, and she is on the cross country team in school. The last time we ran together, we ran a little over a mile. At the end of the run (the last .25mi) She challenged me to a race to the finish.. And she legitimately won. I was impressed with her speed. As soon as her endurance increases, she will be a contender!

Redeemer 5k

Did my third 5k this weekend with a couple friends from my work, Christie Ethridge and Richard Rogers. (Shane Butler was there too, but behind the camera..) I can’t seem to take a picture I like.

Here is the route. We ran along the canal, starting at the locks. Interestingly enough, I can’t seem to get my heartbeat above 179 BPM, even when I’m pushing myself. I don’t know what that means? (that weird heartbeat data at the beginning is just noise.)

Here are the results I got 29th place. Not that shabby out of a group of over 100. I can do better.

Ran the “Gasping Gobbler” 5k today.

Ran the “gasping gobbler” 5k fun run today. I would post a web page if they had one…:p. Anyway, there were about 125 people in the race, and I came in 50th at 29:37:00 I made my goal of under 30 by a hair. Not bad after not being able to run this summer.. I just picked it up again a month ago. Hannah did not want to get up at 7:30 on a Saturday.. her sleeping in mornings on weekends are precious to her.. as in “ahhg.. my precioussss”..

Here is another picture of all of us that ran that day.

My first 5K

I have been inspired by my kids interest in racing lately (They have a kids triathlon that they are going to be participating in next week)

So, I just finished the Augusta “Heart and Sole” 5K race. I have never done one before. My time across the line was under 28 minutes!

OK, 27:59:47 or something like that.

Still, for just getting back into running, that’s pretty good if you ask me.
