One of my 2 new “speckled Sussex” Chicks,.. starting its internet training early.
Melinda’s Spanish homework video with her friend.
Hannah’s New snakes,
Melinda’s blue ribbon on her science project,
Rockwell’s awesome science project that did not place.. Being that I was a judge, and saw what he was up against, (I did not judge 6th or 8th grade, and the other judges did not know my kids where participating.) I was really suprised Rockwell did not place. REALLY suprised. Even the Teacher was suprised… You did a great job Rockwell. You simply win some and lose some. It’s a crapshoot sometimes.
Melinda being NAMS student of the month,
Melinda traveling to Washington DC.
She was invited to go to see the capital and the Smithsonian with the 8th Grad GT class. The whole group is taking a bus up there and staying at a hotel.
Rockwell Modding his Razor scooter,
Melinda helping to fix the IPad,
Going to the Circus.. the kids have gone to the circus every year almost forever…. And Hannah’s friend Amber almost always goes with us!
Hannah’s Awesome pink Kitten.
The Sleepover with the Banks.
Hannah Trying to find a dress for Prom,
Melinda DAR Presentation.
Check this out if you want to hear Melinda read her Essay. I love how she is so expressive.
Giving Gigi a little a love.
Finding a surprise Gift from Mom.. ( A piece of the classic old wrapping paper with a nametag)
The ginko tree dropped ALL of it’s leaves in a 24 hour period.. It was weird watching it. The weather was perfectly still, but leaves would fall. If they where high and hit other leaves, they would cause a cascade. I sat and watching it for a while. Next year I would love to catch it with a time laps camera.
The kids messing around in the back yard, making a dreary fall day a little less dreary.
Took some of the kids to go see (fill in this space). The chipmunks have been around for ages. Figured we would take a pic with them.
Yah, Europe really knows how to do a Advent calendar right. Their Advent calendars put our lame selection to shame.
It’s been a theme between Hannah an Amber for a week now. Melinda posted a picture of her with green milk when they (Hannah and Amber) posted a picture of them eating at a Mexican restaurant.
Then, a few days later, Â
Then, this weekend, Â
Amber and Hannah also got together to make some pie. It turned out well! Excellent, actually. Oh, and they are goofballs  Â
Hannah messing around at a Anime drawing class she takes. Or was this young makers? Hmm.. Now that I think about it, It was Young Makers. Â
Yesterday I ran with pastor Roy.. longest ever.. >8 miles. Some walking involved.
🙂
Also, on a side note, we have a new layer in the family. She lays blue eggs. sort of neat. I hope they get bigger than that though.
Cori and Edo are here visiting! We like their company. We have gone to the clubhou.se a couple times, and we have eaten out, and we have made something in the forge: One more time.. Copper Roses!, They are so satisfying to make, even for beginners, that it makes it fun with out trying. We worked on these Wednesday. Here is Cori is hammering out the copper to make it flat. Edo is marking where he will cut with the plasma torch.
Here is Cori, cutting out her patterns with the plasma cutter!
Cori, Brazing the petals onto the stem.
Lets take a break and feed the chickens while everything cools off. (OK, I’m making things up now.)
Edo getting artistic on us.. you can tell by his expression.
Cori and her friend Amber made some roses too! I think this is rose number 3 for Hannah.
Definitely perfecting the petal shaping process.
ANNNND, somehow, I don’t have pictures of he finished products! I will make sure to get a picture before they leave.
Last night, while Edo and I sort of “jammed” (I played two chords on the banjo, and Ed played things around those two chords that made it actually sound like music.. very satisfying) Cori was helping Hannah create her “firewalker” shoes. They are going to be awesome! Here they are sewing the Flora microcontroller circuit board onto the shoes. I have to admit, we where all ready to hurt someone after trying to glue the LED strips onto the side of the shoes…. OMG.
Friends from theClubhou.se came over this weekend, and we went to their house too. Mariya and Charles came over and socialized, made some roses, and hung out with the chickens.
Also, for those that remember, Here is the final rendition of the Luther Rose I made.
So, Hannah noticed we technically have all of the animal groups now! Invertebrates (The hermit crab.. I’m pretty sure that qualifies as an invertebrate, no?) , Fishes in the pond, Amphibians in the pond, Reptile, (the new snake! Gotta remember its name.) , Mammal, (Gigi), and birds, (chickens!).
That’s all of them!
Interesting.
On another note, Hannah took the PSAT today. She said there were only 2 questions she left blank. Here is an interesting thing.. They make you write some kind of pledge… Â in cursive! Â It has to be written in cursive, otherwise you don’t get credit. Good thing Hannah learned cursive early on. I hear a lot of schools don’t teach it any more.
On another note, she will be taking the SAT in November, and the ACT in December.
We have two new members of the family.. A new Chicken, and a new… snake!. Hannah has saved up her money for a snake for years. She has finally realized her goal. A male Ball Python. Pretty good size one too. It seems really healthy and happy. She found it on craigslist.
In it’s (un)natural habitat.
And here is the new Girl in the coop! She is sweet, but might be a leader not a follower… time will tell! I don’t know if just because you are the youngest means you are at the bottom of the pecking order. This one seems like she can hold her own.
Just a couple of Pictures from work. This one is me in my office. Not crazy that that lens makes my forehead huge.
Here is Master Control. I am in charge of this department.
The chickens love bread. They fight over the larger pieces. It’s quite entertaining.
Also, since we get about 2 eggs a day, and don’t always eat that many, I end up having to write the date they were laid on them with a pencil, and put them in a bowl. Then I have to search for the oldest one when I use them. Well, I made something that takes care of that! It’s the “FIFO egg holder”. I know the egg at the bottom is always the oldest one! The round stock is some scrap rod I had, and the U shaped things holding them are old automotive main bearings. I threw a leaf in there just for fun. It will hold up to a dozen eggs.
