Melinda Made the Honor Roll the first semester. She had a tough time in Spanish, as she had to catch up to kids that have been taking Spanish for years…. but she did it! Congratulations Melinda! You make us proud! Melinda works so hard at school. If she keeps her effort up, nothing is going to stop her.
Some more pictures I took off of Kathi’s FB page. Rockwell, so tough and so sensitive at the same time.
Melinda getting her ear nibbled on.. funny. That reminds me.. I just got a horse magazine in the mail… what does THAT mean?
Melinda, Rockwell and friends. I am pretty sure that is Zavvy next to Melinda. I’m sure Kath will let us know who Rockwell’s friend is. OK, that’s Croix next to Rockwell. I guess I should have recognized him.
Melinda in a staring contest. I wonder who will win.
M and R sitting in front of the STXCDS winning school art entry at the Ag fair. Did they have a hand in it? I’m sure Kath will let us know that too. Not in the winning one, it was from a different school. But they did have a hand in the one from their school.
Hannah and I stopped at the television station this morning to participate in a meme.
If you Internet, you might have seen this…
The newsroom at the station had to get in the act. I’d say it turned out pretty well!!
“Disclaimer: Hannah was 5 minutes late for math class due to this production.”
Hannah started tutoring this last week. She said it was interesting. She was tutoring another student in Algebra Geometry.
Hannah is also taking two classes outside of school, online. She is taking an English class and Math class extracurricularly. I brag about this to mention that, while she claims that the work is not difficult, she spends a lot of time on homework. She spends at least three hours a night, often more, working on schoolwork. I do not have to push her at all. She is pushing herself harder than I would. Impressive that a freshman takes school this seriously.
On a related note, she is starting to get letters from schools/colleges and summer programs inviting her to attend. The school must have added her name to a list somewhere.
A freshman getting invitations letters to check out campuses? That just seems weird to me.
</parental boasting>
I was asked to help judge the school science fair last week. A note for kids doing science fairs: Make sure you work extra hard on your hypothesis, mentioning WHY you think what you do (use science, avoid opinion) and have a good summary and conclusion.. Just being honest here, as a judge I have a lot of science projects to get through.. I read those first, and if they don’t catch my attention, I don’t go much farther…..
Hannah, her friend Amber and I went to the Barnum and bailey Circus last night. I have to say, it was one of the better shows I have been to. And I have been to more than my fair share if circuses..
Of course, one of my fovorites is the “motorcycles in a ball” trick. Im easily entertained. I like how they added the lights this time.
I have another photo that I will add later. I liked: The laser show at the end, the gymyst on the ropes, the guys jumping off the platforms, and the knife thrower.
🙂
Did my third 5k this weekend with a couple friends from my work, Christie Ethridge and Richard Rogers. (Shane Butler was there too, but behind the camera..) I can’t seem to take a picture I like.
Here is the route. We ran along the canal, starting at the locks. Interestingly enough, I can’t seem to get my heartbeat above 179 BPM, even when I’m pushing myself. I don’t know what that means? (that weird heartbeat data at the beginning is just noise.)
Here are the results I got 29th place. Not that shabby out of a group of over 100. I can do better.
