Archive for December, 2013
I went through and realized I did not download a bunch of Kathi’s pictures for the last couple months. So here is a list of makeup pictures from late 2013 for posterity!
Here is a winter Hat that Rockwell really liked. What it was doing in the Caribbean, I’m not quite sure.
Here is Melinda meeting Olympic swimmer Webber Gayle at a swim meet.
Here is Rockwell at a race with his friend Masay.
Melinda and neighbor friend before a duathalon in October.
Kathi decided to get a tattoo before her 50th birthday.
Personally, I’m going to buy a red sportscar.
Melinda and the horses.. Evidently the horses like to roll in the sand after they get out of the water. and you better get off of them, because they don’t care if they roll on you too.
Melinda and ? heading to the water.
Holloween! St Croix style.
More work! poor girl..
Rockwell playing the Baritone.. Practice makes perfect!
Melinda and friend. at the “jump up” event, I believe in Christianstead.
Melinda Rockwell, and Mel’s friend Cassandra.
No tree that cannot be climbed by this one.
Sand angel, a special request from Aunt Verna, stuck in the arctic north.
.
Rockwell and his friend Croix got to hang out during the Christmas holiday. Evidently the shirts where part of the deal.. they did not want to take them off the whole visit.
Mel and friend at the big pier, in December.
Also at the pier.
Walking home after a hard day at the beach.
First day of school!
Melinda was tasked with babysitting a puppy. They probably could have charged HER for the service!
Flooding was part of the St Croix adventure this year. Not a pleasant part. from what I hear.
Everyone must get buried (in the sand) eventually.
Mom and Daughter. And beach.
One of Melinda’s early swim meets. I hear she did well!

<bragging> Hannah received a 99% on her final in honors english. Again, highest grade in the class. but the BEST part is, it took her final grade from a 92% (B) to a 93% (A) ! Now THAT she is happy about ! </bragging>
Last night we went to the Mythbusters tour that came through town last night. It was a lot of fun. The kids got to talk about thier lighting display that we put on the roof of the Bell, And they even made the news that night!
Here is a Nannyramma of the inside of the theater during the show.
Here are the kids manning the “Young Maker”s booth. The kids explained how they built the lighting display that ended up on the roof (awning) of the Bell auditorium.
Here is Hannah haning out on the roof of the Bell during the install
🙂
One of Hannah’s compatriots in the Young Makers (Josh) was interviewed by the local TV station.

Hannah is in the middle of finals week. Today is Chemistry and Spanish. She says it’s the hardest day. <bragging> Tuesday was American History.. Hannah received 104 on that one, highest in the class. </bragging>
Tonight is the mythbusters tour in Augusta. We have tickets! We also have worked on a special display on the awning of the Bell auditorium.. The “Young Makers” group, a friend and I have been leading, created it. The kids have been working with a program called “VIXEN“, and the Arduino, to control the lights. This has 32 individual channels. I’d say it worked out wonderfully! Here is the final product:

We have a contest at work where we decorate our office doors for Christmas. Here is my entry. I did NOT put the box there. Someone else moved it there. I was holding it much higher originally. Sort of bummed that I printed it slightly smaller than it should have been.

Went to Hannah’s Induction into Beta club and the NHS last night. I am glad the school has this ceremony. It shows how important and serious academic success is. Only 12% of the students make it into the NHS. Here is the flyer.
Here is Hannah with her friends and Mr Baskett, the assistant Principle.
As a reward, we went to PF Chang’s resturant afterwards.

Hannah was accepted into the NHS. (National Honor Society) This is reserved for people in good standing with a 4.0 or better grade point average. They also ask you about your extracurricular activities, and expect you to be active in those also.
Good Job Hannah! Keep it up. Your hard work and persistence will take you places.
I need to post more about Melinda and Rockwell, but I’m short on info.. I’ll give them a call tonight to get an update. I know I am the Christmas present middle man.. shipping stuff that shows up here, down there! (shipping from online stores to the USVI is ridiculous for some reason)
