I just watched the BMX award ceremony again..Rockwell got 2520 points, you have to watch up to the teenagers intermediate class to find anyone else that got more points than he did!
Way to go Rockwell.
I also found out that they moved him up to intermediate class because of his point totals and amount of races he won. He will have more competition when he gets back this summer! He might not be winning just about every race this year…
I have been working hard on finishing the Spiral staircase to the upstairs of the house. I have made it completely from scratch. The stringers are made out of 1/4 inch plate steel, and the treads are made out of heart pine.
I cut these out freehand using a plasma cutter.
Drywall steps.
It was a complete coincidence that the wall upstairs was parallel to the wall downstairs. I am thankful for that. I’m beginning to enjoy doing drywall work!
I have half the treads made. Ill load pictures of the stairs with treads soon. the next major step is making the balusters. That will be enjoyable, as I will make them at my forge. The hardest part by far is going to be the handrail. I have not even figured out how I’m going to do that.
Today was the awards ceremony at the BMX track.
Rockwells name is called at 52 seconds if you want to jump to it.
Rockwell got his jersey and nameplate with his name on it. How cool is that? I wish I had one of those when I was his age.
Aaand one last thing.. Chicken video. I like my chickens. I’m still waiting for them to start laying though. Here is a video of my morning ritual.
Kathi said that Hannah got into a special class at school called “Reef Ecology”. Evidently, part of the class actually has them out snorkeling the reefs! From what I understand, only a few students got into it, and only a few schools got the funding for it.
Their new address for the next six months:
6080 Questa Verde
Christiansted, VI 00820 unit #F37
They start school today. I’m sure we will hear how its going soon. I hope it’s a positive experience for them. I am sure they will have some useful life experience no matter what.
Edit.
OK, so little more info. The school HannaH is going to is “St Croix Country Day School“. ITs a college prep school, but you go home at the end of the day. We are still considering if we can afford it. I guess we will do without for a little while, at least to allow Hannah to experience that, and let us know how it is.
And while you are at it, you could tray to skype Kathi.. her skype address is “Kathi.Elser“.
Ill let you know more about Melinda and Rockwells school when I get it.
Pt udall is the easternmost part of the Unitied States, as far east as one can drive on the island. Land is preserved. Incredible veiws from the point.
