We went skiing at Sugar mountan NC. It was a lot of fun (other than the rental hassle). But.. I did not get any real photos on the slopes! Oh wel.. we did get a couple pics.. like this one at the resturant…
And this one Paul took of us at the top of the mountain. I missed Hannah because she went to the top with Rockwell and Paul before this trip up.
Here was the morning before we left.. got a little snow! It really was beutiful.
Rockwell and I were at the Gym (the Y downtown) and Rockwell was doing Box Jumps and landed HARD on his shin. Enough where we thought it might have been broken. So, when it was still hurting the next day, we went and got it xrayed. All is well. Which is awesome. As a note, that xray cost about 280$. Not a bad price if I’m honest.
Melinda Applied to, and got initial interviews for both Govornors schools. She received a letter from the Arts and humanities. She was close, but she is on the waitlist. We have not heard from the Math and Science yet. Good luck Melinda! You have done an awesome job so far.
Melinda, with.. um, one of the founders of Winthrop? Not sure.. Hannah, help me out here.
So this day, we had a pumpkin carving party at Tire City Potters in Augusta.. The owner owed me a favor, so I invited a bunch of friends to carve pumpkins! It was a lot of fun.
Here is the whole group!
Here is my pumkin.
Melinda’s Pumpkin.
Rockwell’s Pumpkin?
Our friend Mariya BRought us some eggs.. almost too pretty to eat. But not that pretty, they tasted great.
My first night time singletrack ride.. (before dawn) I thought it was going to be slow. I was suprised I was only a few minutes off my regular pace.
They are going to be her shortly! Can’t wait to see them. In the mean time, I leave you with Melinda jumping a horse! How I missed this one from last week in my emails I don’t know.
This picture is from last weekend. This was the oyster knife I spoke of in that last post.
I think I liked how it turned out.. Fits my hand perfectly!
Hannah asked to go shooting again.. I asked her what she was interested in, and she said I want to learn to shoot a shotgun. I’m interested in her learning how to handle and respect weapons, (since they are not going away) so it sounds like a good plan to me. Arthur said she could shoot his 20 guage, so we went and got some supplies!
The prices where surprising. 100 round box of 20 gauge shells is only 20$, and the skeet and thrower were less than 10. I think I paid 30$ total, including tax! I dont have a picture of her shooting, but I have a little video! She catches on quick.
2013 International Quidditch Association Southern Regional Championship
No kidding. Schools from as far away as Michigan and Florida here in little ol’ North Augusta to compete. It was SO cold, misting rain, and windy. Ugh.. miserable day. This is University of Florida, and FIU (Florida International University) starting their Game:
Hannah and I did 12.5 miles on the bikes today. We rode to the Greeneway, and all the way to the end and back. We went at a leisurely pace.. took about 1.5 hours. I have to remember to do that more often. We talked the whole way. It was nice. Maybe we can try to make it a Saturday thing.
Hannah has been bugging me to take her to a range to shoot for a while now. On a whim, I figured we would go and see what it would take to shoot at the range. I figured we would need a permit or some kind of authorization, and that we would have to come back another night with the needed paperwork. But it turns out you just have to sign a waiver. Simple as that.
So we rented a Ruger SR-22 rifle, purchased a couple boxes of ammo, and away we went! It was a fun Tuesday night for a change. (Yes, Hannah had ear protection..)
OK, its been a month. Ill have to get a X-ray of the healed bone, just for grins. So far its going together well. I have manipulated it in place, and kept it pretty well wrapped up so it cant move. I think its going to be almost unnoticeable when It is fully healed. Knock on wood. My experience asking other people who broke theirs, (a lot of them came up to me and asked if that was what it was.. they recognized the bandages I guess) is “They gave me next to no instructions either”.
No surprise there. “Instructions? go to the 500$ physical therapist for those!” Of which the probably hourly PT will get 50$ and the corp will get 450$.
