I was going through some genealogy stuff, and found this little Gem. It is a newspaper clipping of Gramp Rourke. (H,M and R’s greatGrandfather on my moms side) He was a hero for a day. (click on picture for larger pic)

I keep finding these family web pages. If you know of any more that I don’t know about, let me know. Anyway, the latest “find” is My Niece in law Kelli Elser’s page. I took the liberty to make a URL forward from Kelli.Elser.net to her page. I also added it to the right side list.

M made this picture. Looks like average 3+ year old scribble, right? I asked “M, what is that a picture of?” And she said matter of factually.. “Planets”…
Of course! That is EXACTLY what it is! Had I thought about it for a while, I could have figured it out myself! I wonder where she saw “planets”…
Good Job, M!

H, M and I just finished Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate factory”. I told them that we would rent the movie when we finished.
We finished yesterday, so, we rented it and watched it today. The movie is a bit more happy go lucky than the book… For instance, Charlie buckets family is literally starving when he finds the dollar in the gutter, amongst a few other things.
Anyway, I asked H which she liked better. She thought for a second, and then said “I like the movie better”. I asked her why, and she said “because of the squirrels”
Me: “Huh?” H: “because it wasn’t Verucas fault that the squirrels shoved her down the garbage hole… But in the movie, she goes down the “bad egg” hole, and she did it to herself.. And she deserved it”
Hmm. OK, makes sense to me! (In the book, there was not a golden egg room, there was a nut room, and Willy Wonka had trained squirrels to shell the nuts… They put “bad nuts” in the garbage hole.. And Veruca Salt was a “bad nut”!)
James and the Giant Peach (also by Mr. Dahl) is next.
H had her first Art class today (part of her Christmas present) and attended with a friend from the neighborhood. They were to draw the person sitting across from them. I hear that they will improve on the picture during each class.

H got her report card this week. A’s in everything. 99% correct type A’S.
I am so proud of her. She is being a great example to her younger siblings.

Well. I almost messed up bigtime.
Yall might have noticed that the web page was not available yesterday and much of today… It was because I FORGOT TO RENEW THE DOMAIN. I forgot to pay the bill basically. Jeesh.
So, anyway, I went to work Sunday to get something done, and I told my friend that I was really down because I might have lost the domain, and he said “Ed, if that is all you have to worry about, you are doing really well”
Strange, but it made a light go off in my head. He was COMPLETELY right. It made me feel a lot better. I didn’t really let it bother me after that. And, as time told, it was all OK anyway. Strange, that worry thing, no?
M went to a birthday party this last week… I forgot to mention it, and there is a dearth of pictures, so I will include it..
Well, since there is a shortage of pictures today, Ill have to dig into the archive… Here are the girls pre R, circa 2002.
Here is H showing us her melon patch. We actually got some softball size watermelons out of it.. They were tasty!
Here is an early picture of M in the kitchen in the Columbia house..
