Rockwell begged me to go to the bike track today.. We had walked over there after a soccer game yesterday. (His team is undefeated.. but who is counting. smile.) Anyway, Rockwell did quite well on ot for the first time. He got a little too brave at one point and tried to go up “the volcano” and flopped over backwards.. But other than a some roadrash on an elbow, he was OK. Click here for a video of Me and Rockwell riding our bikes on the track.
I cant believe how fast Melinda has been growing lately.. its like she just sprung up! She took a ride around the track also.. but was more content to play while Rockwell and I rode.
Here is one of Melinda just having some fun. She is standing on “the volcano”, a jump where people go up one steep side, and down the other.. I cant get enough speed to do it. yet…
Hannah was the acolyte at Church today, which was special because it was Children’s Sunday, where the kids pretty much run the service. Sorry about the fuzzy picture, I did not want to flash in the Church.
Hannah went on a 6th grade field trip to Edisto Island on the coast. Kathi went along as a chaperon. I’m not exactly sure what all went on, but here are a couple pictures in the mean time while I get the story.
Hannah and her friends Catherine and Rossie.
Dr. Doug explains about something they caught in a net.
Melinda wanted me to put her plays “on youtube”. I guess she wants to be famous. In this play, titled “bloopers”, the back story is Melinda cracks an egg on her friend after her friend tricks her. The egg was to be part of the birthday cake they were going to make together.
I don’t think this one needs any explanation. Its titled “catchup and liquor”
Man, they sure plan the activities around this time of year don’t they? Rockwell had a soccer game on Thursday. He is starting to understand the concept of the game. Click here to see a quicktime video of Rockwell in action.
Melinda and dad. I’m not sure why she wanted to be on my back. but i don’t mind.
Here is a nice picture of Melind… wait?! how did that get in there?? Grasshopper photobomb…
We visited the Living history park in town again today. They had an art festival. You know where Rockwell spent the majority of the day. We caught a salamander and a crayfish, and saw lots of tadpoles.
Here is a good family photo for the record books.
Hannah took this picture. We did not catch this guy.. otherwise it would be in the collection already!! Dragon flies are right up there with alpacas as far as “strange” goes.
Rockwell is giving me a look because I just told him to let the salamander in his hand go. We ended up bringing it home and releasing it into our little pond. Click here for a video of Rockwell’s salamander
We visited Arthur’s house this afternoon for dinner. Afterword, he showed me his new hand cranked flour mill that he traded with a client for writing up a will. (You gotta love a lawyer that barters.) He just happened to have some Rye grain in the freezer, so we cracked ourselves some rye grain.
Making flour!
Here are the kids in the process.. sorry, i did not get any video of them actually cranking it, just re loading it to make it a little finer.
We made Rye biscuits afterwords. They were not the best biscuits in the world, but Rockwell and Melinda liked them!
I told Arthur how I had a video of the kids gathering grapes and pressing them in his press in 2003. He really wanted me to upload it, so, I figured out how to rip a DVD this evening. 🙂
So, here it is: The great grape press of 2003. Its fun to see the kids so young. They are growing up so fast!
This is a link to a video of the Yellow Jessamine festival fireworks.
The festival had been moved to the river front last year, but this year, they decided they liked it down town better.. And we do too! because then we get to have fireworks in our yard!
And, my first post using WordPress!! Yay! My posts now get to have titles, and I get to use keywords. fun!
Well, I had to do some work  at the golf course today. We even have our own room, to which I have a key. So, It appears I have a key to a private room at the masters golf course. Ha! If you only knew how funny I think that is.
Well, here is my message to my Bro.
