Here is a little celebration video Rockwells teacher sent me from the VI. To be honest, I have not quite figured out what they are saying…. OK, so Kathi cleared that up.. they are saying
“Momma bake me a Johnny cake, Christmas coming, ooh ah, Christmas coming, ooh ah, New Years coming, ooh ah, Christmas coming, ooh ah, New Years coming, ooh ah……”
Here is the most recent newsletter from the school that Melinda and Rockwell go to. Rockwell is mentioned for showing in a recent Track meet they had. Check out what is going on down there! Click on the picture for a readable larger version.
Melinda sends me photos via her cell phone every so often. She has a cell phone that does not have cell service.. however, it does have wifi.. So she can download “apps” and such. (She has even figured out how to get phone service with it, as long as she is near a wifi hotspot! (that’s my girl.))
ANYWAY. here is a photo she sent me today. I will request she sends more. Thanks Melinda!
Well. Hannah and I saw Melinda, Rockwell and Kathi off to their second and last adventure in St Croix. Its going to be hard to be without them this school year, but Hannah and I will keep each other company. I would not have approved, except we got them into St Croix Country day school. That made me feel much better about it. Ill try to do a better job of keeping everyone updated on what they are doing than I did last time… sorry!
In other news, Hannah has finished her first week of high school. She only had to correct the teacher once… The teacher said Demeter was a Roman goddess, when she is actually a Greek goddess… Her and her friend Sara brought it up discretely after class though… Wise move.
Note: I had no idea who Demeter was until I looked her up.
Not to leave them out, here are the other two kid’s scores. Melinda’s Teachers seemed to really like her, she had all sorts of little awards. Rockwell had a couple too, but I can’t find them. Sorry older Rockwell that is looking at this .. 🙂
Rockwell likes math. It’s his favorite subject. I approve of that. 🙂
Melinda and Rockwell participated in a triathlon this weekend. It was the last of the season. They both did great! Melinda was the first girl in, and came in in the middle of the pack amongst the boys and girls… and Rockwell came in second amongst a dozen competitors, but behind his nemesis! Rockwell: “Ive got to beat him, I’ve come in second every time against him!”.
I love this picture. I bet its going to be a family classic. It comes with a story too. A few minutes after this was taken, Melinda was feeding it, and she tried to feed it too small of a piece, and the iguana bit her finger. She probably would have been fine had she no jerked away.. but she did. So now she can say she had to go to the hospital for an iguana bite. Nothing serious, no stitches, just antibiotics.
Like I said on facebook, only cool moms let their kids play with wild iguanas. I gotta give Kathi that.
