Tragedy on the garden front… One of the 3 sisters gardens was run over by a truck! You should have seen Hannah’s face when I told her. She was very sad.. (smile) I told her we could replant it and everything would be fine. We don’t know who did it. I’ll take some pictures tonight and add them to the garden blog page. The girls have been playing out in the back yard in the sprinkler… I’ve been remiss in taking pictures.. sorry 🙂

Here is a nice crowd in front of the cotton candy stand, no?
I donated the use of the machine to the local Catholic school for their summer strawberry festival. It was a hit again, over 300 cones made. I would not have thought it would have been that popular on a hot day like that. (It was over 90 degrees)
Here is something that grows in the front yard… We call it the “red hot poker”.. 🙂
I don’t know what it is, but it looks neat. Why is it not on the garden blog page? I don’t know… I think the garden part of my mind is on vegetables there this summer…

Rockwell took his first steps today, and in an amazing coincidence, I was playing with the camera right when he did it!! (OK, so you missed the VERY first step, but you definitely see the second and third ones in this video!!
How about that!
I would have taken some pictures of our visit to the three sisters garden, but I forgot to put the disk back in the camera… Sorry. Then, half way home, I forgot I had my cell phone camera… So, that is what the cell phone picture is today… On the walk home.

I found an excellent Article that spells out my Christian belief about war and self defense.
Please read this homily
I especially like “Self-defense is morally legitimate, as long as it’s proportional to the attack… The basis of this, believe it or not, is the idea that we should love ourselves! Remember, Jesus said, “Love your neighbor AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF.”
How sensible is this? I love it.

Well, There was really nothing I could do at the Council meeting last night. They voted on the plan and it passed unanimously. All I did was stand and thank them for not actually ceding any of the park, and for arranging for the boy scouts to move and rededicate the flag pole. I have to admit, they did their due diligence… There was not a lot for me to argue with.
I just dont like change.:)
Below is a copy of the article that was in last weeks paper.. Click for a larger, readable version.
Here is a picture of the stone at the foot of the flag pole that is going to be moved

I have to go to a N Augusta council planning meeting tonight, concerning the park that extends in front of my house.
The City is going to allow the Church to build a driveway on it. Im not happy about it, because it alters the park, but I must go, just to keep the council (which is half made up of Church members) honest.
Ill let you know how it goes. Perhaps Ill even scan the article that was written about me in the newspaper last time I attended the meeting. 🙂

A local radio station had a promo 59 cent gas for the first 59 people. After hearing it on the radio, I called Kath and said “hey- there giving away free gas at the gas station, head on over there…” And she said, “I just happen to be passing it right now” She ended up being the 3rd person in line… Cheap gas- No wait! Whata deal.
Yesterday, Kathi’s Brother Bobby and his wife Robyn, along with Kathi’s Mom Teri and her husband Rich Came to visit.
Bobby and Robyn Sideikas at the dinner table
Grandma Terri Sideikas holding Granddaughter Melinda.
Bobby and Robyn Live in North Carolina, and Terri and Rich live in Chicago. (Sorry Rich, no picture) They had to leave this morning, but we had a good visit, catching up on all that family stuff. We like Visitors.
And the girls will rope anyone they can into reading a book to them…:)
This afternoon, we went to Edgar Eismingers 6th Birthday party. Edgar and Hannah have known each other since they were babies. (If that’s possible) I have to fess up after getting an inquiry about the cell phone picture From my sister Steph… That picture is of Edgars brother Sterling, not the birthday boy himself. We Met Shane and Amy Eisminger When we first moved to SC. Shane is the Guy who had the sno ski that I gave to Chris for Christmas. He is also the guy I know that has a teaching degree, but decided that scalping tickets at sports events (mostly nascar) is much more lucrative… So that is what he has done for a living the last 5 years (!)
No pic’s sorry, didn’t bring my camera.
