Melinda Made the Honor Roll the first semester. She had a tough time in Spanish, as she had to catch up to kids that have been taking Spanish for years…. but she did it! Congratulations Melinda! You make us proud! Melinda works so hard at school. If she keeps her effort up, nothing is going to stop her.

I just found this picture of the girls. It was around July of 2007. Melinda was really enjoying the fireworks from our driveway. The shrapnel was falling into the yard as we watched.. That is what is in her right hand. (its a long story, but our house is within 300 feet of where they launch them…) That is Dales arm and Foot to the right.

My youngest daughter is 11. I can’t believe it. How lucky can one parent be? Did I mention that she got through Elementary School and never got less than an A in any class.. ever? I mean, who does that? Not even her older sister can say that.. 🙂 (this picture was taken at the RonJon surf-shop at Cocoa Beach Fl.)

Melinda must have been impressed with that trophy Rockwell got.. because she wants to race too. So we decided to visit the track tonight. It’s a practice night. When she first got on the track she was timid, but it took her all of 5 times around the track to be right in the mix with the other kids!
It was funny; at first she wanted NOTHING to do with that gate. It was way too loud and intimidating. Then, somewhere along the line I told her she was going to have to try the gate sooner or later, because you have to start against it if you race.
About 5 minutes later, I look around, and she is trying it by herself! Normally I would help hold her back wheel and set up, but she just did it on her own. This was a little after the Gate manager spent about 5 minutes with Rockwell, showing him how to balance. Obviously she was listening in too!
About 4 gates later, she is actually balancing at the gate. That is no minor fete. That is what this video is..
Here is a good picture of BOTH of them balancing at the gate.
Church had the rally day this weekend, so I got the cotton candy machine AND the popcorn machine out of storage. It was quite a hit. Nothing like some good old fashioned popcorn made with coconut oil to remind you what popcorn is supposed to taste like. Specifically, not out of the microwave…

Well, a tad late, but that’s OK.. 10 years old? My how you are growing. It’s all going too fast, but I digress. The kids had a fun time with Kathi bringing them to the Zoo, and then they came home and had cake! It was a special cake, made especially for Melinda.
Feel like you are participating here:

She was also the student of the year in her classroom, I beleive it was for being the organizer of all the classroom plays they did. Each friday they would put on a play. I am sure 3rd grade is going to be a memorable experience for her, simoply for that reason alone.
And, I have another reader on my hands. perhaps not as enthusiastic as Hannah, but she is definitely into it! Which makes me happy. 🙂
I will collect the other kids awards and show them next.
Way to Go Melinda! I’m so proud of you.

Melinda wanted me to put her plays “on youtube”. I guess she wants to be famous. In this play, titled “bloopers”, the back story is Melinda cracks an egg on her friend after her friend tricks her. The egg was to be part of the birthday cake they were going to make together.
