We went to the local observatory in Aiken to see the transit of Venus across the sun this morning. After all, the last time it happened was in the 1800’s. We got up bright and early at 6am to see it. There were many people there to see it also, but, alas, the eastern sky was cloud covered. We were able to look at the moon through the observatory scope’ though. And, we did see the transit through a computer linked telescope somewhere in Africa. There is something fun about keeping your kids up way past their bed time, or getting them up very early to do stuff like this.
